If you cannot see an event you are looking for, it is likely fully booked. Should a place become available the event will re-appear and you will be able to book.

Create your own personal wall hanging. During this session, Kirsty will demonstrate how to set up a frame loom and accomplish different woven techniques. Try these patterns out, weaving with a variety of yarns and materials, from organic cotton, lustrous wools, silks and other textured and fancy yarns, to produce a project to take home. All resources provided. No prior experience necessary. Delivered by The Liverpool Weaving Company.

Making Every Contact Count (MECC) is an approach to behaviour change that uses the day-to-day interactions that organisations and people have with other people to support them in making positive changes to their physical, mental health and wellbeing. This session has been developed in partnership with the Royal Society for Public Health, and provides a safe space for staff to explore the barriers and issues with not only people asking for help and support, but also our own barriers we may face when asking if someone is ok. We will consider the language used and explore how best communicate that supportive element with individuals. Enabling staff to feel confident in being able to ask twice and signpost those in need to the correct services. The day will cover the following modules: Module 1: Introduction to MECC for Mental Health Module 2: Knowledge and Skills – having a MECC for Mental Health Conversation Module 3: Signposting and Pathways

Lord Mayor's Dragon Boat Race

LJMU are proud to be the main sponsor for this years Lord Mayor's Dragon Boat Race, which takes place on Sunday 12 May at Liverpool Watersports Centre. Teams from various organisations will go head-to-head in long boats decorated with magnificent dragon figureheads. It’s a test of teamwork and concentration as well as a physical challenge. There’s a great atmosphere too, as family and friends line the shores and cheer on the teams. We will have three boats of 15 staff competing in the days races. If you would like to be one of them, book your place now and we will contact you with further information and training dates, nearer the time.

LJMU are pleased to be working with Active Leisure Events, in support of our plans to encourage staff to increase activity levels. We have 10 FREE places available. If you are interested, please sign up to secure your place. Please be aware these are available on a first come first serve basis. We will then be in touch with you directly to confirm your place and supply a unique link/code for you to register your details with the race organisers. Please only register for a place if you are 100% committed to taking part in the event. The university has paid for a limited number of spaces for staff and will not be able to transfer this to any other member of staff once booking is confirmed.
